Homework

Homework in second grade should take no more than 20 minutes (not including daily reading). If homework is taking longer, or if your child is becoming frustrated with the work - let them stop! Just write a note on top saying "20 minutes," so that I know what your child was able to complete within that time frame.

In addition to reading for 20 minutes EVERY NIGHT, our homework schedule will be:

Mondays	Reading Response Log - Unless otherwise indicated, your child is to complete a page in his or her Reading Response Log.  This includes reading a picture book (or a chapter from a chapter book) and responding in writing to a question about what they have read.
Tuesdays & Thursdays	Math practice
Wednesdays	Spelling or Reading Comprehension practice

Monthly Projects

Each month, there will be a special project to complete at home.  Parents and family members may help with the project, although most work should be done by the student.  Have fun and be creative with the projects!  You can find information on the monthly projects by clicking on the months below:
